Inselcamp Rügen

Accessibility statement

We want everyone to find their way around inselcamp-ruegen.de, regardless of eyesight, mobility or the assistive technology they use. This statement describes what we do towards that, where we are not there yet, and how to reach us if something stands in your way.

Last updated: August 2026

The standard we aim for

We follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA, which also underpin the European standard EN 301 549. We cannot promise full conformance for every page at every moment, but we review the site regularly and fix what we find.

What is already in place

  • a skip link to the content as the first element of every page
  • consistent keyboard operation with a visible focus outline
  • labels on every form field; error and success messages are announced to screen readers
  • text alternatives for images that carry meaning; decorative images are hidden from screen readers
  • a consistent heading hierarchy and marked-up landmarks (navigation, content, footer)
  • correct language markup for each language version
  • respect for the system setting “reduce motion”: videos and animations then stay still
  • header videos carry no information that is not also present as text; they play muted and only once

In addition, there is a display toolbar.

The toolbar

At the bottom left of every page you will find a button with the accessibility symbol. It opens a small panel with the following settings:

  • Text size in four steps up to 140 %
  • Higher contrast: text in black, clearer edges, and text over video gets a solid backing instead of a shadow
  • Highlight links: every link underlined and set off in colour
  • Highly legible font: the handwritten headings give way to a clear grotesque
  • More line spacing for word, letter and line spacing
  • Stop motion: halts all animations and transitions
  • Reading guide: a band that follows the height of your pointer

The toolbar can be operated by keyboard and opened or closed with Alt + . (Windows) or ⌥ + . (Mac). Your settings are stored in your browser, apply across all pages until you reset them, and are never transmitted to us.

To be explicit: this toolbar is not a replacement for assistive technology. It only changes the presentation and does not interfere with screen readers, magnification software or keyboard operation. Those work on this site without it.

Known limitations

  • The booking form on the “book your holiday” page comes from a third party (campbuchung.de). We have no influence over its accessibility. You are always welcome to book by telephone or email instead. We take your enquiry just the same.
  • The map on the contact page comes from Google Maps. The directions are given in full as text beside it.
  • Some older photographs from the previous website do not yet carry a detailed description. We are adding these as we go.
  • The site map is available as an image and as a PDF. A written description of the layout is still missing; reception is glad to help in the meantime.
